Henry Rollins Breaks Down The Dark History Of Marijuana Prohibition

Part of the History Channel series, 10 Things You Didn't Know About , this episode plunges the historical depths of the plant, Rollins never shying away from digging up it's complicated and significant past – from the earliest colonies to top-secret government programs to hemp in WWII.

As Rollins told Rolling Stone in a recent interview, "If we legalize marijuana, then you're legalizing a 'brown person's drug....And we don't really let the brown people do what that want in this country, if you look at the history. If marijuana is legal, then your kids will be imbibing in what those 'jazz jigaboos' used to get up to." For him, the racist agenda behind America's drug policies should garner more attention than the simple right to smoke, although both are clearly important.

Like the segment says: "… prepare to get high on history."
